Project Overview

Initial Situation

EAM’s SAP system landscape was in a complex, ad-hoc state with heterogeneous system management. At the start of the collaboration, the SAP HCM system was still operated by a third-party service provider, and both systems were still based on older, non-S/4 HANA versions. The systems required strategic modernization to meet regulatory requirements such as the GDPR and to ensure operational sustainability.

Vision

The goal of the joint project was to consolidate EAM’s SAP landscape, integrate technological innovations, and create a modern, user-friendly system environment. This included both the implementation of forward-looking SAP S/4HANA technology and the legally compliant handling of personal data through SAP ILM – with a clear focus on operational reliability, standardization, and efficiency.

Solution

Arvato Systems acquired the Application managed the SAP systems and successfully migrated the SAP HCM system from the previous service provider to in-house operations. The transformation of the SAP Coresystem was installed in Brownfieldapproach was adopted to preserve existing structures while simultaneously implementing targeted modernization. At the same time, the SAP HCM system was migrated to S/4HANA using the lift-and-shift method. Both projects were closely integrated and aligned toward a joint go-live. In addition, SAP ILM was implemented in both systems to archive and, if necessary, delete personal data in compliance with the GDPR. This resulted in a modern, high-performance, and compliance-compliant SAP landscape with high operational reliability.
