Modern IT with the AVVIA Transformation

Cloud Migration with AVVIA at EAM — Stable, Secure, and Agile

How AVVIA Enables Rapid Cloud Migration for EAM

Modern IT with the AVVIA Transformation

New module_references-awards_EAM_400x300

AVVIA is Arvato Systems’ answer to the question of how to manage and operate an efficient cloud environment in accordance with the latest standards. Built on the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, EAM decommissions end-of-life server operating systems and migrates the corresponding software solutions to the AVVIA environment.

Customer Benefits

Minimizing Operational Risks Through Optimal Cloud Management
Improved deployment and turnaround times for change and service requests, as well as for setting up environments (PoCs and sandboxes)
Significant potential for innovation and further development through access to the AVVIA portfolio
Reducing operational costs through increased automation, such as in patch management
Elimination of application-specific reporting

Project Overview

Initial Situation

In 2020, EAM successfully migrated its IT infrastructure from on-premises to the cloud using a “lift-and-shift” approach. Since then, the focus has been on ensuring stable operations, which is why larger initiatives aimed at further modernization have so far been launched only on a case-by-case basis.

The current infrastructure is based primarily on virtual machines, and some of the software components in use are nearing the end of their lifecycle (e.g., Windows Server 2012). This now presents ideal starting points for a further transformation toward modern cloud-native architectures and lifecycle management.

Vision

EAM aims to create a modernized IT landscape with automated operational processes such as patching and predictable online/offline periods. The goal is secure, stable, and efficient IT operations that also offer flexibility for future requirements. The new cloud architecture is intended to further optimize costs and resource utilization while reducing dependence on individual vendors.

Solution

With the AVVIA portfolio, Arvato Systems provides a future-proof IT operating model. The new environment enhances security, agility, network transparency, and resource utilization. Increased automation and the use of Infrastructure as Code enable virtually seamless migration and rapid provisioning of cloud resources. The focus is on operational stability, cost optimization, and adherence to key security and compliance requirements.
