The Future of Application Integration at die Mobiliar

How innovative approaches increase efficiency and enable seamless processes

Security Through Workload Automation with Streamworks

Insurance companies are highly dependent on the up-to-dateness and availability of their large databases. IT is therefore a crucial factor and decisive for the internal cost ratio, service quality and fast personal customer support and satisfaction.

Project Overview

Initial situation

Since 1988, Mobiliar has been using Workload Automation from Arvato Systems to reliably automate important business processes. Initially used on mainframes, the predecessor of Streamworks also controlled SAP batches under Unix (AIX) in 1998. One year later, further batch processes were integrated on HP-UX, SUN and Windows. Mobiliar continuously expanded the use of Streamworks and controlled more and more batch processes on different operating systems. The integration of different applications constantly placed new demands on the batch experts, which led to the upgrade to Streamworks in 2010.

Vision

An example of how Mobiliar uses Streamworks to implement secure, transparent and time-saving solutions for application integration is the integration of the new CRM platform based on Oracle Siebel 8.0 in batch operation. This project plays a central role in the desired 360° view of the customer. Data from over 50 upstream systems is now reliably updated daily via Streamworks and provided in individual views for customer advisors and the Mobi24 call center. Streamworks accelerates the update processes through controlled parallelization of data extraction.

Solution

With Streamworks, Mobiliar operates a highly available and high-performance solution for all batch processing - across all operating systems and applications. The comprehensive logging and reporting functions also meet the high compliance requirements of the all-industry insurer.

Up to the Challenge

The challenges included cross-platform application integration, the seamless integration of CRM and output management systems into the existing batch processes and the automated execution of daily, weekly and monthly closings as well as risk forecasts across different applications and operating systems. In addition, the effective management of data warehouse, collections and financial flows was crucial to ensure efficient and reliable processing of data and financial transactions. These tasks required close collaboration between the different teams and careful planning to ensure smooth integration and optimize business processes.

The implementation of the new solutions has led to significant results that have considerably improved the efficiency and transparency of operations:

A central overview and access to all batch activities has been created, making it easier to monitor and control processes.
A high degree of automation leads to significant time and cost savings, allowing resources to be used more efficiently.
Flexibility in day-to-day business has been increased, while at the same time absolute traceability of all processes is guaranteed.
Data communication between different software solutions is effectively controlled, which improves the integration and exchange of information.
The most important business processes, including sales, contract management and claims management, are optimally supported, resulting in an overall better quality of service.
