With regard to digitalization, there is no way around the cloud, especially for a globally active company. In the area of CRM software, leading providers such as Microsoft have also discontinued support and further development for their on-premises offerings, meaning that from a strategic perspective, migrating the CRM system to the cloud is recommended. Such a migration also offers the opportunity to rethink existing processes and adapt them to the industry standard.

Huber SE recognized this and, with the help of our expertise in the field of cloud computing and Microsoft Dynamics 365, implemented this migration very successfully.

Project Overview

Initial situation

The Dynamics CRM solution that had been in use until the migration was hosted in the company's internal data center and installed on an outdated version. This solution deviated greatly from the standard Dynamics sales process due to individual adaptations and custom code.

New updates and releases for the highly customized on-premise CRM system could only be implemented with very complex tests.

The processes of the existing interfaces, including the documentation, were neither visible nor comprehensible for Huber and resembled a "black box." Helpful features such as the Outlook app or the Teams integration could not be used.

Vision

The migration of the CRM system should also be seen as the general starting signal for a reengineering of processes with a high degree of standardization. The first step is to clean up the old data. After this clean-up, data can be migrated. In addition, the increased Office 365 integration ensures efficient processes and promotes team collaboration. In future, access to the full range of Microsoft Dynamics 365 functions will enable the full potential of a holistic CRM system to be exploited.

Solution

The cloud migration was successfully completed in mid-2022 within six months. The migration of the Microsoft on-premises CRM Sales module took place as part of a cross-border roll-out. The successful collaboration between Arvato Systems and Huber SE will continue with the introduction of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing module.
