Always One Step Ahead in the Digital Media World

Rising costs, stagnating subscriber numbers, and growing competition - hardly any other industry is under as much pressure and subject to as much continuous change as the media world. The decisive factor for success or failure is how flexibly and quickly companies adapt to new circumstances and bring new innovative business models to the market: For maximum reach, content needs to be scattered across multiple formats, new channels need to be built, and ways of monetization need to be found. Key technologies such as cloud or Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help simplify production, reduce costs, and become more efficient in the race to gain exclusivity across the value chain.

Sustainability (ESG)

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for media production. The proper use of IT can significantly reduce the ecological footprint: energy-efficient systems and cloud computing reduce electricity and energy costs. At the same time, digital platforms offer a sustainable alternative for exchanging information and networking with people and organizations.

Metaverse

The Metaverse promises to make media consumption a fully interactive experience for customers.  New 3D formats, such as virtual events and web-based spaces, open new possibilities for media content and marketing. Arvato Systems is keeping an eye on developments in this area to support its customers as a partner on the way to Web3.

Customer Experience

Digital touchpoints are essential for a good customer experience. The number of channels on which consumers use media content and services is constantly increasing. We help you manage the customer experience. Building and managing digital communities are just a few examples of how our solutions can be used.

Customer Relationship Management

Successful content strategies are based on extensive customer data. Collecting, managing, and analyzing it is a must for identifying trends, targeting users, and building loyalty. Our solutions integrate seamlessly with products such as content management systems and ad management tools.

Monetization

Only those who know their customers can get the most out of their market. With its solutions Arvato Systems helps monetize content: We facilitate the analyzis of user data, support the automation of (cross-media) advertising, and provide e-commerce platforms, content management systems, and digital rights management tools.

Production & Supply Chain

Before media content reaches its users, it must go through a series of steps: Close coordination is required from production and planning to content distribution and archiving. Our solutions and applications automate these processes, avoid workflow disruptions, and help secure media content quickly and distribute it without copyright infringement.

Data & AI

Data-based tools and AI applications are at the heart of tomorrow's media world: content can be played out in a personalized way, image and text recognition speed up production, and improve search and analysis processes. In this way, content will be adapted to target groups in a more targeted and effective way, while user convenience will increase. Arvato Systems is also working on developments in AI technologies.

ERP Core

In the digital transformation, we support our customers from the media environment in making their business processes more efficient and, thus, more competitive. This applies to the optimal value creation of content and the financial area of media companies. Here, digital transformation means that various aspects, such as accounting, controlling, reporting, and operational management, can be redesigned with the help of modern tools like SAP FICO. This makes it possible to handle finance processes with significant cost savings, for example, through automated invoice processing systems or centralized risk management.

Security & Risk Management

Security breaches are a major threat to proprietary content, patents and customer data. Comprehensive IT security can identify risks and effectively secure information and assets. State-of-the-art security solutions that protect customer data and applications in our data centers make us a reliable partner.

Cloud & Data Center Transformation

The cloud is at the heart of any long-term, sustainable IT infrastructure of tomorrow. Streaming services, media producers, social media teams and publishers can leverage their technologies to deliver scalable solutions for growing user numbers and data volumes. Learn more about cloud & data center transformation here.

Modern Workplace

Media usage is becoming faster and more international. As a result, workflows in production need to be more flexible and decentralized. Digital applications and cloud computing help teams to secure and edit content easily and reliably - even in the home office and on the road. Learn more about how our solutions support the Modern Workplace here.

Rights & Content

The licenses and regulations for media use are as varied as the media on offer. Our IT solutions allow content and rights to be managed automatically - simply and flexibly.  In the case of sales and financial systems, our products enable automating processes ranging from the identification and documentation of receivables to payment transactions.

Worth Knowing about the Digital Transformation in the Media Industry

  • In the Metaverse, a digital space is created through the interaction of virtual, augmented and physical reality. It is a social medium that allows people to interact, communicate, collaborate and have property. The metaverse thus offers the opportunity to establish itself as a meeting place for a new creator generation. For the media industry, this offers a multitude of new opportunities to engage with consumers. Content will become even more cross- and multimedia-based and tangible for viewers. They can immerse themselves directly in the formats through holograms and VR in the metaverse.

  • In tomorrow's media world, AI in the form of ChatGPT and Generative AI will play a key role. Content intelligence is becoming a crucial component here: Algorithms can be used to extract metadata - such as background information on relevant people and topics - from formats. With this knowledge, media can better align their offerings with their users. Combined with data on user behavior, the result is a comprehensive picture of the media's own target groups and their preferences. Finally, combining content and user feedback opens up new possibilities for user-based content strategies and new ways of monetization.

  • The smartphone is still the undisputed number one when it comes to consuming media content. However, other devices, including smart TVs and in-car entertainment technology, have recently started to gain ground. The growing popularity of gaming is also making virtual reality increasingly popular. This also has consequences for media companies and their formats. They have to prepare their content differently from a technical point of view and adapt the storytelling to the usage situation - and, if possible, without much extra effort in production.

  • Varied and available everywhere - that's what users expect from media content. Suppose you want to meet these expectations and hold your own against the flood of providers. In that case, you have to rely on cross-media: Content must be available as text, video, and audio in multiple places to reach users, while cross-linking extends the user journey. This requires new channels, from social media to (multi-purpose) apps. For media, this means that a wide range of formats must be available for a wide range of devices - and as quickly as possible.

  • The million-dollar business around the Creator Economy is booming - and there's no end in sight.  Top content creators have followers in the high single-digit millions - a reach that seems almost inconceivable for media companies. To keep up with the competition, it's a matter of playing by the industry's rules. This means more live formats, more user involvement through interactive tools, and more vertical videos - and a close connection to major social media platforms. Smartphones and mobile editing are replacing complex productions.
