TI Connection for Care

No more waiting

No More Waiting - The TI Connection for Care Is Coming

Telematics (a combination of telecommunications and information technology) and the IT infrastructure used for this purpose are the foundation for the digitalization of the German health care system. Connection to the TI will be obligatory for all actors in the medical sector who participate in the care of statutorily insured persons. Therefore, all service providers will gradually be connected to the telematics infrastructure, including all outpatient and inpatient care facilities. The Digital Health Care Act (DVG) and the Patient Data Protection Act (PDSG) create the legal framework for this.

It is legally stipulated that the connection is voluntary for the time being. Participating care facilities will be reimbursed from July 1, 2021 (DVG, §106b). From July 1, 2025, the "voluntary" will then become "mandatory", and all care facilities in Germany must have access to the TI. The TI connection enables comprehensive communication between all players in the medical system. It thus contributes to better care for people in need of care.

What Advantages Does the TI Connection Bring for You as a Care Facility?

Paperless administration

Reimbursement of Costs for Care Facilities

The assumption of the costs has been agreed upon by the GKV Spitzenverband and the associations at the federal level. Further information can be found on the website of the GKV Spitzenverband (sub-item Funding for digitization measures). The funding includes subsidies for both one-time provision and ongoing operation of the connection and relates to the following components

Model Program: Integration of Care Facilities Into the TI

We will be happy to support you in your participation in the pilot project for the TI connection of care facilities

The Digital Healthcare Act (DVG) and the Patient Data Protection Act (PDSG) create the basis, especially for outpatient and inpatient care facilities, to connect to the secure telematics infrastructure (TI) in the German health care system. The connection is voluntary, and participating care facilities will be reimbursed from July 1, 2021 (DVG, §106b).

The aim of the model project for integrating care facilities into the TI according to § 125 SGB XI is to test the connection of care facilities to the TI with professional and scientific support. Interested facilities and providers were able to apply for this until October 30, 2020.
