Showtime for the Arvato Smart Logistics Platform & L.I.S.A. at the #DPK18
In October, Microsoft's largest European partner conference #DPK18 took place in Leipzig. The focus of the event was the topic of "The New Intelligence." For three days, the importance of AI for the individual, companies, and society was discussed. The event offered a program with over 100 speakers, 180 sessions and right in the middle was our Pepper L.I.S.A. and the Arvato Smart Logistics platform.
Our digitization project Arvato’s Smart Logistics Platform was selected as one of the 50 most innovative AI showcases in Germany. Thus, we were asked to present our project to all participating Microsoft partners and sellers during the "Experience World" exhibition and keynote. How chatbots and artificial intelligence digitize logistics and branch processes
The top priorities within logistics processes are increasing efficiency, reducing error rates as well as the quick training of new employees. Our Smart Logistics Platform is a digital, cloud-based modular system in which individual or company-wide logistics processes can be carried out through apps. Thus, a paperless process and cross-company flow of goods, such as container management, can be linked.
With the focus on continuous digitization of business processes, the platform uses standard interfaces, a control center based on real data, flexibly adjustable processes and configuration options as well as administration functionalities and user interface. In this way, both internal and cross-company logistics processes can be orchestrated and provided with smart wearables, such as smartwatches. The Click & Collect Showcase, which was also presented at #DPK18, integrates chatbots, AI and smart wearables and shows how cross-channel logistics processes are transparently and ingeniously managed.
Click & Collect with the Arvato Smart Logistics Retail Suite
Click & Collect is a unique service where customers pick up an online order at a brick-and-mortar store. The goods are first researched online and the availability within the store is checked.
1. Click & Collect
As soon as the customer places an order online, the in-store inventory is directly used as a part of the Click & Collect process. As a result, the customer can pick up their order on the same day.
2. ASLP - Arvato Smart Logistics Platform
All orders are managed in the central control room. The Arvato Smart Logistics Platform delivers up-to-date data across all channels in real time. ERP, warehouse management, order management system or the web shop can be integrated via the standard interfaces provided.
3. + 4. Transfer of ordered goods
After the completion of the ordering process, a transfer of the goods inventory to a temporary Click & Collect storage bin is triggered on the merchant's side. The branch employee benefits from the "pick-by-watch" principle: the communication and order process take place via a smartwatch, which is located on the staff’s wrist. Innovative verification methods such as graphical icons reduce the scanning effort to a minimum. In the web-based logistics control center, the orders are scheduled and work progress is monitored. "Pick-by-Watch" is the integrated solution for the paperless processing of logistics processes and supports all conventional picking processes.
5. + 6. Chatbot DiRA - Digital Intelligent Retail Assistant
DiRA is an intelligent retail assistant with text-based input and output as well as a convenient chat function. It supports the customer directly when arranging a pick-up appointment. Additionally, DiRA generates a pick-up ticket (QR code) and cancels or postpones the pick-up appointment if required.
7. Pickup
The store employee scans the pick-up slip (QR code) and removes the goods from the temporary warehouse. The Arvato Smart Logistics Platform Control Center monitors and controls the integrated and operational processes in real time.
8. Pepper L.I.S.A. - Logical Information System Arvato
Pepper L.I.S.A. is our particular highlight for customers – She welcomes the customers who want to pick up their order and impresses them with many features, e.g., a shopping assistant while customers have to wait.
This showcase is only a small part of what makes smart logistics so unique today. Applications can be quickly transferred from an App Store to smartwatches, smartphones, and tablets. On the Smart Logistics Platform, customers select the processes they need and bundle the information relevant to these processes via the platform and display it on a wearable device. For example, in the areas of incoming goods, production supply, order picking, transport management or branch processes, Interfaces to ERP and order management systems are included in the scope of supply of the Smart Logistics Platform and provide implementation times of a few weeks instead of several years.
