Active Corporate Culture

Management Principles
“The skills and conduct of the managers are crucial to the company’s success.” That is the first sentence inscribed in the management principles, which are based on the tenets of the corporate constitution of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, and which serve to provide a detailed record of the partnership-based understanding of management established in the Bertelsmann Essentials. These guidelines apply to all Bertelsmann managers around the world. Bertelsmann was one of the first companies in Germany to officially recognize the importance of a collaborative approach to management and staff relations.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility is one of the four Bertelsmann Essentials in our company culture, and is therefore deeply rooted in our business. When we talk about corporate social responsibility, we mean more than just a limited definition of social or societal responsibility.
